This is the sixth iteration of my rather evil cache placed nearby along this former railway. As with the others, it is no more than a dozen feet from the trail. The original cache was in a metal tube at the base of some fencing. Some industrious maintenance folk finally removed the fencing after my cache had been hidden there for over 7 years. The next iteration was hidden in a hole in the building, the third iteration was in the concrete pipe in the ground, the fourth iteration was a well camoed tube on the ground that I allowed to age for over a year but disappeared to to over-zealous cleanup of the trail, the fifth iteration was a 3D printed piece of wood hanging in tree, the sixth iteration is .......... Well, I guess you'll just have to find it for yourself.
Please place it back so it retains its 3.5* difficulty rating.
Come visit Iron Horse Trail in Contra Costa County. The cache is easily accessed by bicycling, roller blading, jogging or just plain old strolling along. With this said, bring the family and fido to find this cache as it is a nice paved horizontal path. There are multiple places for parking along the trail
This multi-use, whole-access trail between the cities of Concord and San Ramon follows the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way established in 1891 and abandoned in 1977. For more information visit the East Bay Parks Website at:
