Geocache Description:

25 August 2019, 13:30 - 19:00

Bug hotels by the railway followed by mulching and tree care at Horsbere Brook 13:30 - 19:00

Sunday 25th August

Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to the brook (alternative parking).

Where: We will start by the pylon and railway line (published co-ordinates, see waypoint 1 for entry into that field), also look for the rangers truck to help narrow it down futher. Once the bug hotels are complete we will be moving back in to the fledgling wood land, see waypoint 2 for mulching and tree care.

What: Following the success of our last bug hotel building we want to build more! This will involve stacking wood pallets and filling the gaps with straw, cardboard, paper, moss, pine cones, bamboo canes, old blankets, old sheets anything really that will create nice damp hiding holes for all manner of bugs.

Depending on how well we get on we will then moving back up to the fledgling woodland where we will either be releasing trees from the deer guards (depending on how well we've done at previous events) or doing some mulching - so bring along your buckets!

Please don't feel that you have to be here for the whole event, it would be great to see you for the time you are able to attend.

How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and gloves. Please bring along any cardboard (toilet rolls and kitchen rolls are perfect), any old fabric you no longer need, broken pottery, air bricks, normal bricks, paper etc. Lastly if you are going to join in the mulching you might want to bring along your own buckets too.

Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction. They will introduce the session and do the health and safety brief prior to work commencing.
