Birch Flats Wander is a series of 8 geocaches. If you do the series in order from 1 - 8 it will take you from the Parking Waypoint on a wander through an open forest discovering sights and scents along the way and will end very close to the Parking Waypoint again. Bring a pen or pencil with you as some of the caches are too small to hold one. The series of 8 will take approximately 1.5 hours. Much of the wander goes along tracks, it is quite easy walking with almost no elevation gains. From Atlin travel east along Surprise Lake Road, you will see a sign for Birch Creek and a road going off to the left just before the Birch Creek Bridge. Proceed along the road going left off Surprise Lake Road to the Parking Waypoint.
In order to log that you have found this cache you MUST sign the log sheet that is in the cryptex inside the cache container. In order to open the cryptex and sign the log sheet you must solve the following puzzle which will give you the 5 digit sequence that will open the cryptex. Once you have solved the puzzle and have the 5 digit code, proceed to the cache coordinates, when you open the cache container you will see the cryptex. You must align the 5 numbers up between the V’s on the base and the top of the cryptex, which will then enable you to pull the top open and reveal the log sheet.
Once you have signed the log sheet, the numbers and the V’s on the top and base must still be aligned in order to close the cryptex. Once you have closed it up, just turn the numbers randomly so it is ready for the next cacher.
