This cache was placed at the 2019 Crosswinds Marsh Meandering event.For the 5th year in a row we continue the geocaching community’s recognition of Wayne County’s efforts in providing replacement wildlife wetlands habitat removed by the Detroit Metro Airport expansion. Crosswinds Marsh Wetland Interpretive Preserve is one of the largest man-made wetlands in the country. It was built to replace the wetlands that were paved over to expand Wayne County's (the McNamara terminal) airport. The area is managed by the Wayne County Parks.
There's Knot a Hole lot of farmland here anymore
Prior to the late 1990s, this area was largely farmland. Today, where swans and fish swim, soybeans once grew and cattle and horses once roamed. Little remains of the farms any longer except for an occasional fence post, or some left-behind rusted fencing.
The cache:
The cache is a two stage multi. Stage 1 (a simple plague with coordinates) is located on the Blue Heron trail. You DO NOT need to leave the boardwalk at stage one. The final is a bit of a walk away, but should be a fairly easy find. For the final, you are looking for a small lock & lock cleverly hidden in a way we have used before at the marsh.

Crosswinds Marsh is open from DAWN to DUSK. Admission is free.
