The Avenue of Camperdown
The Finlay Avenue of English elms (consisting of some 500 trees) which was planted in 1876 by the school children and residents of Camperdown, and is regarded as one of the most outstanding elm avenues in Australia.
A concept of the local shire council to beautify the township, the trees were kindly donated by the Finlay family of Glenormiston
Originally the avenue covered almost 2 kilometers, but since then has been extended to almost the entire length of Camperdown.
Adding to the beauty of the avenue, is a 30 metre high red brick clock tower built in 1896 and is strategically located in the centre of the avenue. This was donated by the Manifold family, early settlers of the area.
