The aftermath of an old mine, so there are lots of blown rocks and debris. Wear hiking boots.
Park at Trumbolt parking lot and start hiking up the road. There isn't a trail head so you will have to blaze your way across the creek. It is up a small canyon so your GPS might have a difficult time getting a really close reading. But you should still find it easy enough. The opening to the mine is small, but it opens up. We left a flashlight for those who want to explore the mine.
We went to it the other day and found that a pine tree has fallen on it, so we cleared the area. So if you do have problems finding this, just look for all the pine needles. It is a small hole so look hard.
