Geocache Description:

This cache is going to be archived on Monday 10th August

We are archiving all of our 100+ Yorkshire caches.
We'd love you to come and find any caches you can before that date.

Although we encourage you to take as much swag as possible before the caches disappear, please do NOT take the cache itself. Cachers are still trying to find our caches and, once we archive them, we're hoping to bring them in ourselves.

You are looking for a DISCO. Please replace it carefully where you think it belongs.

As with other caches along this circular, we were hoping to find something interesting about the surrounding area. But essentially you are standing at the northern end of Oneham's wood. So called because of Oneham's farm to the South West. There's also Oneham's Gill which flows into Easington Beck further south. That's it really.
Oh, and you're standing less than half a mile away from Europe's 2nd deepest mine and the only polyhalite mine in the world. It employs roughly 500 people and also contains an underground laboratory where they help to search for Dark Matter.

Map of Staithes circular

This cache is part of a 3 mile circular caching walk which takes in the picturesque village of Staithes. The route follows footpaths and quiet country lanes. There is one steep ascent from sea level to the top of the cliffs. Other than that, it's pretty easy going. The Terrain level for each cache has been awarded individually. The Terrain rating for the entire walk is roughly 2.5 to 3, as it should be an easy stroll for a relatively fit person.
The mobile signal throughout the entire walk is very temperamental, so we'd strongly suggest saving the caches for offline use before setting off, so that you don't have to rely on getting a signal when searching.

Do you know what a DISCO is? Geocaching acronyms can be confusing. Click here for a list of what the most commonly mentioned ones mean.

Offline lists are a way of saving caches to your device so that you don't have to use mobile data in the field. This link shows you how you can create offline links when using the official app once you're a Premium member. If you're not using that app, or you're not a Premium member, it should be a quick google search to find out how you can make an offline list.

Please don't post spoilers for our caches in either your logs or in uploaded photos. (No, not even cryptic ones. We can all guess that "What a hoot of a cache" means that you found an owl.) We just really want everyone to have the same surprise as you did.
But please do let us know if our caches are in need of repair. The best way for us is for you to let us know through the message centre with a little detail of the problem. But via your log in a vague way is fine too. We take pride in our caches and want you to have the best experience possible. So please do Report any problems so that we can fix them.
