Geocache Description:

This cache is going to be archived on Monday 10th August

We are archiving all of our 100+ Yorkshire caches.
We'd love you to come and find any caches you can before that date.

Although we encourage you to take as much swag as possible before the caches disappear, please do NOT take the cache itself. Cachers are still trying to find our caches and, once we archive them, we're hoping to bring them in ourselves.

You are looking for a bison tube containing a logsheet with our logo printed on it. Any signatures on other bits of paper will not count.

Walker's Halt is the name of the nearby seat. More than a bench, it is a stone edifice; erected in the memory of Nina and Eric Hibbin of Boulby, in 2004. Unfortunately, due to substantial loss of the land around it due to erosion, the bench had to be dismantled and moved to where it now stands, less than a decade later. It houses a time capsule placed by the original builder, with an extra note added by the 6 apprentices who spent 2 days carefully dismantling and rebuilding the seat in 2011.

Map of Staithes circular

This cache is part of a 3 mile circular caching walk which takes in the picturesque village of Staithes. The route follows footpaths and quiet country lanes. There is one steep ascent from sea level to the top of the cliffs. Other than that, it's pretty easy going. The Terrain level for each cache has been awarded individually. The Terrain rating for the entire walk is roughly 2.5 to 3, as it should be an easy stroll for a relatively fit person.

The mobile signal throughout the entire walk is very temperamental, so we'd strongly suggest saving the caches for offline use before setting off, so that you don't have to rely on getting a signal when searching.

Please remember that this and all other caches that you have found have been placed by volunteers. We place our caches for your enjoyment, using our time and resources. It is always nice to receive a log with a short sentence or two letting us know if you enjoyed the cache, and why. Please don't give away any of the unique aspects of the cache though. We would like others to have the same surprise as you when trying to find it.
