Isaac Scruggs was known as warm, friendly and kind. He was a staple of Rowlett, having served on the City Council and remained an active part of the community, whether going door-to-door to get a petition signed, helping neighbors garden or running his local store, Scruggs Grocery and Bait.
And Rowlett hasn’t forgotten. Isaac Scruggs Park on Garner Road, which is undergoing improvements, was rededicated in 2015
The park was named in his honor in 2005.
