Geocache Description:

One of the two caches hidden as a result of the Van-Isle Cachers
get together on the September long weekend, 2002.
Plan to bring a long a picnic to this one...it's a loverly beach and it might take some time to find it, even once you're at ground zero.

Updated on Sep 3, 2012...Given the DNF's Here is some more info...
The co-ords are very sketchy in this area, once you get close, put away the GPS and use your cache sense...AND...depending on your fitness level, this cache may very well require 2 people as one will have to go into a cave like area, and the other give a hand up and out again. We welcome you to post your own co-ords when you do find it.
We are also upgrading the difficulty to 4.5x4.5 to reflect the 'spelunky'.

Updated on Nov 25, 2011...Placed a new container as the old one was broken. New Log book in place, lots of pirate gear... Also moved it a bit and got better co-ords (we think)... The new placement is a lot more like a Terrain 4... A Real Terrain 4. If you're not sure what Terrain 4 means, PLEASE, look it up before attempting!
This cache is a medium sized pelican case. As with most caches hidden by Th' Cap'n, it can
be reached much more readily by boat than by lubber. We came by
boat, beached on a nearby gravel shore, and found the spot. It is
clear that the beach is accessable via land, as there are some
"shell trails" and small trails that head up into the woods inland.
The terrain rating is for the last 20 meters or so, which must be
approached with some thought. It would be best to take extreme care
when it's wet out. This cache could be part of a nice 3 cache day
on Newcastle when combined with the Pi Rats Cache and the other
cache that came from the event, also hidden today by bcrockcrawler.
Keep yer sails 'igh an' move swiftly. Captain No Beard and the Pi
Rats.
