Geocache Description:

The Lake Geneva area has a well known history with crime, having been a hangout for some of Chicago's most notorious gansters.  There's anther story however that's been mostly lost to history.  Many years ago when the White River Trail was an active rail line a ruthless gang of outlows terrorized the upper midwest.  Known as The Jack Hall Gang, this bunch of criminals murdered and robbed their way across three states in a massive crime spree.  Their reign of terror ended as they almost pulled off one of the biggest heists in U.S. history.  A train loaded with gold from the Black Hills was passing through southeastern Wisconsin on it's way to Fort Knox.  The gang executed a well conceived plan and managed to relieve the train of it's precious cargo.  Their plan ultimately failed as heavy rains the night before washed out their planned escape route and their getaway vehicles got stuck in the mud.  The crooks tried to flee on foot but were all rounded up in a few days.  Most of the gold was recovered but some people in the know whispered that some of it was still unaccounted for.  Recently, during the renovation of an old barn, a mysterious letter was found that could shed light on the mystery of the missing gold.  If anyone could read it that is! The letter appears to have been written in some sort of code which has the authorities baffled.  Frustrated, the police have turned to the Geocaching community for help.  If you're able to decipher the message and find the treasure, be sure to notify the authorities by logging your find on Geocaching.com
