[LV] Droši atver vārtiņus, ieej baznīcas dārzā, pastaigājies pa to, atrodi slēpni un izbaudi mieru... Ar draudzi ir saskaņots! Pēc slēpņa vairākkārtējas izpostīšanas, tagad slēpnis ir jaunā formā un jaunā vietā.
Tas esot noticis pirms vairāk kā 370 gadiem. Sasmakas muižas īpašnieks esot medīdams apmaldījies. Trīs dienas klīdis un maldījies, barons izmisumā piesaucis Dievu, zvērēdams, ka tajā vietā, no kuras atkal atradīs ceļu mājup, liks uzcelt baznīcu. Viņa lūgšana tikusi uzklausīta. Paskatījies vērīgāk, barons ieraudzījis muižas jumtu. Tajā pakalnā lielkungs iedūris zemē zobenu un teicis: “Te būs baznīca!”
Protams, tā ir tikai teika… Kad 1646. gadā Sasmakas barons Kristofers fon Hohenastenbergs-Vīgands uzcēla Sasmakas baznīcu, tajā vietā tirdzniecības ceļa malā, kas veda no piejūras uz iekšzemi, jau atradās neliela apdzīvota vieta.
Mūsdienās Sasmaka pārdēvēta par Valdemārpili un ir viena no mazākajām Latvijas pilsētām, bet 17. gadsimtā celtais dievnams joprojām ir pilsētas dominante. Laiku vējos, kas brāzušies pāri, tas gan ir zaudējis daļu no sava krāšņuma. Daži varbūt teiks, ka tas kļuvis apbružāts, bet visiem jāatzīst, ka savu lepnumu dievnams nav zaudējis.

[EN] After destruction of the cache couple of times, it is now in a new format and in a new place. Open the gate, walk into the church garden, take a stroll, find the cache and enjoy peace. It has been agreed upon with the congregation.
That happened more than 370 years ago. The owner of Sasmaka manor went hunting and got lost. For three days he was wandering around when finally baron in despair called to God and swore that in the place from which he will find the way home, he will order to build a church. His prayer was answered. He looked more carefully and saw the roof of his manor house. On that hill the nobleman pricked his sword in the ground and said: “Here will be a church!”
Of course, this is just a tale… When in 1646 the Baron of Sasmaka Christopher von Hochenastenberg-Wigand built Sasmaka church, in that place already there was a small populated area, on the trade route from the coast to inland.
Today Sasmaka is called Valdemarpils and is one of the smallest towns of Latvia, but the church built in the 17th century still is the dominating view of it. In the winds of time that have passed over, it has lost some of its beauty. Some may say, that is has become battered, but everyone needs to admit, that it has not lost its fundamentality.
In order to reach the cache, you need to go into the church yard. After the visit, please, do not forget to close the gate! The cache is reachable also at night, but if you will use your flashlight/torch too much, the neighbours might think, someone is breaking in the church! Cache is a PET preform. It has logbook and a pencil.
