Watling Lodge is a category B listed building, built in 1893 which stands directly upon one of the best preserved stretches of the Antonine Wall. There have been various excavations carried out in the grounds surrounding the building which discovered the foundations of a Roman Fortlet which protected a gateway to the Antonine wall. Some of the original garden features were also discovered along with some sweetie wrappers from the 70's! Watling Lodge is owned by Barnardos and occupied by Barnardos Falkirk Pathways Service who support vulnerable children, young people and families. A mincecraft model of the Watling Lodge has been constructed and further information can also be found on the 'Antonine Wall' app!
