Nathon is the capital of the island, not very touristic but cheaper than Chaweng and Lamai. Behind the mainroad there is a large area of small roads and in some parts you will find aspects of traditional Thai life.
Nearby is the Nathon Pier with hourly departures to the mainland. The boat trip takes 90 minuts. You can also start here to Ko Phanghan and other touristic destinations. The travel agencies will offer you a lot of options.
