After the defeat of Hungarian revolution between 1848 and 1849 the 13 generals where convicted to death for crime and lese majestry and were executed on the 6th october 1849. After 41 years on the 6th october 1890 the statue of Liberty was revealed in the nowadays Avram Ianku square. The statue was made by Zala Gyorgy and Huszar Adolf. After 29 years in the 1919 the statue was removed by the local administration of the time. After another 85 years there were many opinions, both pro and against the rebuilding of the statue. But in 2004 it was rebuilt in Parcul Reconcilierii where it stands now and faces the Arch of Triumph from where Avram Ianku is looking towards the statue. The Arch of Triumph was made by the Romanian sculptor Ioan Bolborea.
