4ST Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

John & Everest: Apparently this cache is an island.

A friend checked this out today (thanks, Matt). It appears the cache is gone and was on private property surrounded by the state park. Curious to find out what's so important about this section of land, but that's the way it goes.

Cache was on the section to the east of trail #6.

Geocache Description:

4ST Cache, Waubonsie State Park - it is said that you can see four states from a viewpoint in this park, a forested area in the Loess Hills of southwest Iowa.

Approximately 50 miles from Omaha, NE.

Dogs welcome (on a leash).

Bicycles not allowed on trails in this section of the park.

The container is a copper-painted ammo can. Original contents include log book, disposable camera (take a picture of yourself and leave the camera), a photo of Mark Messier, a couple of keychains, glow in the dark insects, and other little trinkets. It's a cache, not cash.

There are two [normal] ways of arriving at the cache. The southern trailhead is definitely more strenuous, immediately descending 100+ feet, only to regain that elevation (and then some) shortly afterwards.

Beginning at the northern trailhead takes you along a fairly flat and well maintained trail.

Plan on a 1 mile walk (one-way) no matter which route you take.
