This Geocache is rated very simple. The only foreseen difficulty would be the half-hour drive down HWY 567 from North Cobalt (Gravel road). Access will be poor during the winter, but don't let that deter you. Good luck.
The Montreal Dam Geocache was placed during my last week of work in this part of the country. I was working on the hydrographic survey of Lake Timiskaming and decided to position two caches this being the second, the first is the Opimican Geocache.
Again, the cache contents are yours to discover. The location of this cache provides a fabulous view of both Lake Timiskaming and the Montreal River. Fall would be the best time for viewing the true colours of the area.
Take special caution in this area, I came across two black bears within 500 metres of the cache. An air horn or fox40 whistle would help ward off these large predators. It's not likely they will attack but just to be safe, travel in pairs and these extra supplies will help.
I also, spotted a mature bald eagle closer to the hydroelectric dam.
The cache is well hidden but only a one-minute hike from the road. It's a medium sized container with a white lid, tucked under the side of a very large boulder. I then barricaded the cache with smaller rocks (thus, it's not visible). The cache is slightly east of the hydro lines on the down slope of the rock cut. The easiest access point is where the road divides.
