Geocache Description:

Swiss Valley Campground & Park offers 62 wooded acres along the meandering course of spring-fed Catfish Creek which is stocked with trout by the Iowa DNR each year. Located 4.5 miles southwest of Dubuque off Highway 20 west or Highway 151 south. This park was named for the original settlers of the area. The park contains shaded picnic areas along the rocky creek banks, offering cool relief from summer's heat. Complete picnic areas, a playground, and sports fields, in addition to modern camping sites with accessible shower and restroom facilities makes Swiss Valley a truly family-oriented recreation area. Winter camping, ice fishing for trout, and cross-country skiing round out the year. A year round Park Ranger is in residence at this site. The Swiss Valley Nature Preserve and Center is located one mile from the park and offers additional trout fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, and a visitor center with interpretive displays. Find this geocache between the park and campground up in the woods a bit. With a deer trail running through, this one should be easy to spot when looking down.

The Great Dubuque County Geocaching Series highlights the public parks, campgrounds, preserves, wildlife & recreation areas managed by the Dubuque County Conservation Board. With 2,358 acres of property, Dubuque County has, "Something for Everyone", in terms of fishing, hiking, frisbee golfing, hunting, camping, boating, biking, and many more activities. 16 geocaches are hidden throughout these Dubuque County areas where you will venture to rivers, prairies, bluffs, forests, mounds, a canyon, and find a diversity of plants and animals while you're at it. Within each of the posted geocaches is a clue for a hidden, bonus, geocache. Put all the clues/digits in alphabetical order of the parks, to create the coordinates of the bonus geocache. Example: Bankston (N), Bowstring (5), Fillmore (8°) would be N 58°. 2 parks do NOT have geocaches due to previous geocaches there, the clues of these parks for the bonus geocache are: Graf Park (3) and Massey Park (0') Happy geocaching!
