This cache is named in honor of the amazing Australian lyre bird - none of which will be found in WMass. This bird is incredibly talented like you wont believe! Imagine a bird that can mimic most everything it's able to hear. How about a chainsaw? A car alarm? How about a camera? Even better , your speech! Think i'm kidding - after you find this cache & sign the log - go onto You Tube , type in the search window at top "lyre bird video's". You'll see a number of video's. Check them all out! David Attenborough's is my favorite one! Whats that? The theme song from Seinfeld? No way? A bird can do all this and more? Yup! It certainly can! Beek,head,neck,voice box are all the tools the lyre bird needs. They have the audio equivilent of a photographic memory. They typically will mimic sounds it doesn't normally hear in it's enviroment.
