The Jewish National Fund (JNF) house was an important Israeli military post during the war of independence. This is because it's located on the historic route connecting Jaffa and Jerusalem. The Arabs, under Hassan Salameh's command, attacked this place several times, but never captured it. The JNF house is a single three-story house, six hundred meters west of Beit Dagan junction. The land on which the house was built, on both sides of Jerusalem Jaffa/Tel-Aviv road, was purchased in 1922 by the JNF. In 1930 an Arab from Jaffa constructed the house, which was used as a cigarette factory. Later, the house and most of the land was bought by Haim Sugerman, who planted an orchard. But it failed, and Sugerman couldn't pay back his debts. He went bankrupt and lost the property. The Barclays Bank, which repossessed it sold the house to the JNF, and it has been named after it ever since. In 1948-1949 the house was used for the war effort by the Israeli military, but it has been abandoned ever since.

משכנתא לקק"ל, אך אז הבית הפך למוצב צבאי. מאז 1949 עמד הבית בשממון. הוצבה אנדרטה לזכר הנופלים על
הגנת המקום לידו, והוקמה סטקיית אסא המפורסמת, שידועה יותר מההיסטוריה של המקום עצמו
