This run down corner sure collects some stuff (and traffic!), but it was literally missing something, that I saw as an opportunity.
Tamatoa is the gargantuan coconut crab in the movie Moana; his obsession to decorate himself made me think he was an enormous decorator crab, but nevertheless, his popular song is the primary hint for this cache.
Not long ago, while introducing my kids to geocaching, we had a comical battle right here, somewhat similar to that fight between Maui and Tamatoa... we came from Along Aster through the businesses' parking lot, not realizing this corner was fully fenced off. Err, had been before someone else had broken through. So, the fence already had extensive damage, and we took care to not end up similar! ...the kids awkwardly crawled under and clumsily received their bikes (fortunately still small ones!) from me handing them over/through, and then I carefully stepped over/through as well. We continued on our way over to Magic Tree House Little Free Library and a snack at Monticello shops. Then, on our way back, we reached this very location and my kids paused and gestured at battling the fence again! I assured them that we already escaped from there and could continue on the sidewalk toward home. :-)
Hint: you may need Manaiakalani (Maui's fabled fish hook), or other help from someone more useful than Hei-Hei.
PLEASE ensure the cap is on before returning so that contents aren't lost to Tamatoa forever!
further spoiler hints: I suggest an evening or nighttime grab, or coming up with a day-time game plan, such as a walking stretching grab to retrieve and return (since even though it is shiny, 99% of people don't notice it there or not there!), or perhaps a group effort, with a majority creating a diversion looking another direction or drawing attention several feet away! Upon returning to finalize* this cache, today, there was a red Mercedes broken down just up the road with the driver pacing the sidewalk, and I couldn't replace it until later!
*very non-shiny wooden FTF token for the lucky person!
Congrats to lel_h for FTF... and nearly got my latest one too at a much quicker pace, but it was a hotter item. ;-)
