Cache #80
There used to be a cache on the Victorian side of the river here, but it got archived a while ago. While walking the dog recently I spotted a couple of murals near the Union Bridge which connects Albury to Gateway Island across the Murray River. They are homages (I assume) to the art of the famous British graffiti artist 'Banksy'. The one included in the gallery is a copy of "Rage, the Flower Thrower" of which the original is in Jerusalem (is it ironic that I wished I had got a photo before it was tagged?). I will let you find the other one - it may not be visible at all times!
A walk under the bridge brings you to the derelict "Brasseurville" which was the 19th century house of brewer G H Billson and adjacent to his Albury Brewery. The building was used between 1967 and 1985 as the home of the Albury & District Car Club but has subsequently been abandoned.
To bring people down here (and to admire the recent work that Albury City has done on the weed control along the river) I have decided to place a cache nearby. The cache is a micro so you will need to bring a pencil (and shorter cachers may need some assistance). Nearby park is a leash free area for dogs so bring the geohound for a run around, and the kids can have a play in the fantastic Oddies Creek Playground.
I have added some parking spots - please do not stop on Wodonga Place (i.e. the road near the bridge)- parking is illegal (and dangerous) there.
Enjoy!
