Totally Findable Tourist Caches

Welcome to Sydney

This series of geocaches is designed primarily with visitors to Sydney in mind who may have limited time and transport options and want a quick and easy find while out enjoying some sightseeing around this beautiful city.

All cache containers will be one of three types; a flat magnetic key case (MKC), a round film canister (FC or MFC for magnetic) or a fake rock (FR).

The hint will indicate the type of container used and will be very specific to help you find the cache easily. If you want a challenge to find this cache and don't wish to know exactly where it's hidden, do not look at the hint.

At each location you’ll be given some information about the site you are visiting.

Enjoy!

Blues Point

This area is named after William (Billy) Blue.

Billy Blue was a Jamaican chocolate maker who was sentenced to 7 years transportation for stealing raw sugar, arriving in 1801.

After completing his time, Billy Blue began a ferry service across the harbour. Governor Macquarie was a regular user of the ferry services and reported in his diary in 1817 that his wife, Elizabeth and son, also called Lachlan, were rowed up the river to Parramatta in Blue's boat.

In his later years, Billy Blue took to donning a type of naval uniform, with a top hat, and would board newly berthed vessels as 'Commodore of the Fleet' to welcome the officers to Sydney.

Billy Blue's whimsical style and banter endeared him to both government officials and the public alike and he was often referred to as a "likeable rogue".
