Century Plant Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ron Streeter: Paintballers would have tumbled to this eventually. Now to get ready for the number 200 placement coming up sometime in the first quarter of 2004.

Geocache Description:

The current edition of Webster's Unabridged Dictionary defines Century Plant as:

1) Any of several fleshy plants of the genus Agave some species of which bloom only once in 10 to 20 years and then die. 2) The name of the 100th cache placed by Ron Streeter, in a game called Geocaching, on September 7, 2002.

This cache contains 100 goodies in a special container INSIDE the cache. This is for the FTF cacher. That person can take it all or leave some for later cachers. These are NOT 'where's George' dollars...spend it where-ever you like !

I am proud to be one of only a few people in the world who have placed 100 caches or more. When I started caching in February 2001 I was placing a cache for every one I found, but my find/hide ratio now is about 1 hidden for every 4 found. I plan to continue this rate if possible.

I hope you enjoy looking for this cache and several other new ones I placed recently.

Happy 100th !

Note:

  • In keeping with the expression…"land of many uses", this area is used by young dirt bicycle riders and paintball enthusiasts, and there may be a homeless person or two around as well. The cache is 250 to 500 feet away from any of these activities and "nature lovers" like us can claim to be examining trees, bugs, etc.
  • I do not recommend looking for this in the dark.
  • Power lines may affect satellite signals.
  • This is a large, camo cache which is completely concealed.

There is at least one way to reach this cache that is not gate dependent,
but it is not as convenient or safe.
