The Samoeng Loop is the road running around Doi Suthep (Suthep Mountain), which is the landmark of Chiang Mai City. It is a roughly 100 km circuit that starts and ends in the city of Chiang Mai. Its winding road into the mountains northwest of Chiang Mai is popular with tourists and locals alike. It has many resorts, cafes, restaurants and attractions. Mostly it is known as one of the most beautiful drives / cycles in the area.
This trial has been set up to run from the southern end to the northern. It is possible to do the trail in a car, motorbike and bicycle. It can be done in a long day by car or motorbike and in 2 days on a bike. You can easily book a reasonably priced resort most places on the trail and take your time in this most stunning area.
Although there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments on the way please remember to take plenty of water with you and make sure your motorized transport has enough gas to make it!
