Geocache Description:

12 October 2019, 10:00 - 11:30

Iowa Geocaching Championships

October 12th, 2019

10-11:30am

Held at Jester Park Nature Center!!!

The event is FREE.  No registration required.

Never heard of geocaching or always wanted to give it a try? Or maybe you're a diehard geocacher who is always looking for a challenge? Join us to search for 12 geocaches hidden in Jester Park for this special event.

Geocachers will be on hand to teach newcomers how to use a GPS and the ins and outs of geocaching.

Competition will start at 10:00 a.m.

Scorecards will be handed out just prior to the start.  There will be 12 caches to find.  Each cache will have a punch that will correspond to a number on your scorecard.  There will be an individual divison and a two person division.  You will have 90 minutes to find as many caches as you can.  If you are late, you will be disqualified.

The individual finding the most caches the fastest will be awarded the GREAT WOODS COIN.  The two person team finding the most caches the fastest will be awarded The Buser Cup.  Both awards are traveling awards which must be passed on to the following year's winners. Each person's geocaching name will be placed upon the corresponding award.

Turn in your passport for a chance at prizes!

In addition, those who find at least 10 out of the 12 geocaches will earn a geocoin!

***NEW***  To handicap the event, for every year you are over the age of 50 years, you get a 30 second head start.  So, if you are 70, you will get a 10 minute head start.

Congratulations to Victory Lane with 8 caches to win the Great Woods Coin and to Curtis and Landon Pote for winning the Steve Buser Cup with 4 caches. Time is important and these two groups were the only two to come back within the time limit. Victory Lane even started late and was the first one back.
