The Drogher 09/2002 Traditional Cache

First, do _NOT_ go over the railings. The cache is no where near the railings. This cache is located on the last quarter mile of Hide Trail. Cow hide's used to be carried from the Mission to the bluffs on Hide Trail. Once at the bluffs, they would be thrown over the edge and carried all over the world by ships. There is a cool statue of a 'hide drogher' showing how this is done.

This little bit of trail is not very well known, so I will not hold it against you if you are from the immediate area and do not know about it, or the statue there . The arches you will see on the trail were part of what was going to be the Dana Point Inn. The ground breaking for the Inn was in 1930. Beacuse of the Depression, Woodruff wasn't able to cut it, and the project was cancelled. If you drive below the bluff, you will see what was going to be the entrace to an elevator that would take the hotel guests down to the beach.
