Geocache Description:

The Skye Road overpass was constructed in 2018 as part of the Victorian Government program to remove level crossings at key intersections. In April 2018 the level crossing was removed, improving safety and traffic flow for future commuters and local traffic. Previous traffic congestion in the two-hour morning peak period would hold up vehicles for up to 35 minutes while boom gates were down.

Landscaping works revitalised the area with 280 trees and more than 35,000 plants and seedlings covering about 9000 square metres. More than 95 per cent were Victorian natives such as flowering banksias and eucalypts, sourced and supplied through social enterprise. The new space includes improved bus service areas, new street lighting, new signalled pedestrian crossing for the community to safely access bus services, and a 1.2 kilometre shared use path connecting northern suburbs with local traders.

And of course, some public open space to hide a cache or two. This one is a small cache located at the northern end of the overpass. Readily accessible from the shared path and plenty of car parking nearby.

This cache was originally placed by Annoying Tarbit.
DumberThanRocks are currently maintaining it from 2022 onwards.
