Geocache Description:

This geocache is placed on an area of commonland between the village of St Brides Major and Heol y Mynydd. It is easily accessed from St Brides Major, by following the road Heol y Slough. The commonland streches from St Brides Major to Ogmore village. It has lovely views and has many paths to walk. There are many intresting features such as a disused well, which was said to have been built in the 16th centuary. This well was used to provide drinking water for the villagers around that time. You can find this well down Pant Mari Flanders, a sandy path leading you down a valley towards Ogmore river. This cache can be done along with some other caches around this area. This cache is called Song of the Skylark because this declining farmland bird still frequents the area. When you geocache here in the summer there is a good chance you will hear their song overhead, like we did when we placed this cache. The cache is a small black tub, with logbook and small pencil. Big enough for small swaps and TB's. Please replace exactly as found (very important!). This cache is a good cache and dash, and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. You do not need to climb over the wall . The area near the cache is fairly flat and grassy, should be buggy accesible. There is sometimes some Bracken, Thistles and Nettles but these are generally low growing and therefore the cache should be accesible at all times of year. Also, mind the resident sheep, as they like lazing around here!
