Geocache Description:

The Three Ships are an art installation on the Newport Coastal Path between Transporter Bridge and Riverside Park. It is a great place for a view of the River Usk. There is a brilliant information board very close by with lots of facts on the nearby Historic Docks in Newport.

Huge quantities of iron, coal and steel were exported from the Newport Docks in the 19th and 20th centuries. When the South Docks were extended in the early 20th century they were said to have had the largest lock in the world! The docks are still in use today!

The cache: You are looking for a medium sized cache which is labelled as an official geocache!

There is very little parking nearby. The coastal path is the best way to access the area which can be either walked or cycled! It can be accessed via the A48 but this is a particularly busy road so please be aware of the traffic!

Stealth may be needed as it is a busy area and there will be Muggles about. Pencils are provided along with a tradeable swag!
