“The Devil Made Me Do It” is Yosemite Debbie's annual birthday event designed to take you to an interesting location, this year to Devil’s Punchbowl County Park.
Devil’s Punchbowl County Park has parking in an asphalt parking lot, restrooms, water, a small visitor’s center with exhibits including live exhibits (insects, spiders, lizards, snakes, birds), 20 picnic tables among pines, BBQs (fires only allowed when there is no red alert issued), and several hiking trails. Best of all it is FREE!
Event will run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Raffle at noon. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under the pines. Might be a good idea to bring a chair so you can move around in the shade. The picnic benches are concrete.
Additionally, on that day at 1 pm, you have the option of participating in a staff led tour of the San Andreas Fault, which starts with some history and background at the visitor center and then continues by vehicle caravan to a location not far away where you will be able to straddle the fault line. There are also several hiking trails you may want to enjoy on your own from a one mile loop down into the Punchbowl or a 3.7 mile (one way) trail to the “Devil’s Chair.”
New caches will be placed before the event. Rumor has it there will be some new RoombaCats gadget caches as well.
Hope to see you there!
