Geocache Description:

This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

.

This is the site of the former Aldgate Valley Church of Christ, a stone church, built by voluntary labour in 3 months, opened Christmas 1888, also used as school until 1898. The back of the church was extended to form a hall, with a foundation stone 7 Feb 1925 by J T Train, opened 8 Aug 1925. The front porch built of stone from Shanks’ property as war memorial 1948. New hall opened 1970 beside church. The church is closed, now a private residence, converted to 2-story house.

To find the cache calculate the following:

On the old stone wall facing the road

X is the number of glass squares in the white rectangular window
Y is the number of rows of holes in the rectangular vent above the window
Z is the number holes in one row

A = X + X
B = Y + X + 1
C = Z + X + 1
D = Z
E = Z + Y - 1
F = X + 1

Cache is located at s35 01.ABC e138 44.DEF

Checksum: A + B + C + D + E + F = 38

The final location is a nice short walk in Frank Smith park, just down the road.
