This cache is placed to honor an important member of our local geocaching community as he celebrates his "anni quinquaginta" aka "The Big Five-O."
J. of Martin 5 is an amazing guy. Not only does he play an important rôle in the Inland Northwest Chapter of WSGA, he also is responsible for a rather astonishing number of caches placed in the general Spokane/Coeur d'Alene/Hayden/Post Falls area. He is a devoted husband to R., a caring father to K., N., and T., and a doting grandfather to Martin_Beary.
He has served in the military, and he hosted a fascinating geo-event about caching while deployed in Iraq! He is also active in Civil Air Patrol.
J. volunteers at the Kootenai Humane Society as a dog walker, and he and R. have adopted several pets from KHS.
J. has recently added another string to his bow, as he became a member of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team. As one would expect, a few caches by him honor Search and Rescue.
Somehow he also manages to hold down a full-time job, as at "anni quinquaginta" he is still far too young to retire.
BTW, the title of this cache refers to the fact that J. studied Latin at Coeur d'Alene High School. Many years later, GSFirefly had the privilege of working with J.'s high school Latin teacher in a Latin team teaching situation. Small world!
Now for the cache: It is off the trail to your left - if you take the trail we did when we placed it.
If you are on another trail, and there are some, all bets are off! As befits a cache honoring J. of Martin 5, it is - wait for it! - under a rock protected by natural camo. If you get scratched - well, you should have worn long sleeves and long pants! RLD picked the spot, and GSF did the "tucking." The camo placement was a two-person job. The container was the prize we won when we played "The Newlywed Game" as part of the kickoff to the FUN series. This seemed like a good use for it.
There is a pen in the cache, but your own writing instrument is always a good idea.
Please replace carefully and cover well to keep it safe.
Congratulations to Martin 5 on his 50th Birthday First to Find!
