[RO] Comuna în care mi-am petrecut copilăria la bunici și rude. De fiecare dată mă reîntorc cu plăcere pe aceste meleaguri pline de istorie.
Localitatea se află pe malul drept al Siretului, în dreptul barajului și lacului de acumulare Răcăciuni, pe șoseaua națională DN2 care leagă Bacăul de Focșani.
În trecut, moșia satului aparținuse familiei domnitorului Gheorghe Ștefan și a suferit diverse modificări teritoriale până în prezent.
Pe teritoriul comunei sunt incluse în lista monumentelor istorice, opt obiective, ca monumente de interes local. Trei dintre ele sunt clasificate ca situri arheologice și alte cinci ca monumente de arhitectură, dintre care: 1- biserica de lemn "Sfinții Voievozi" (1803-1808) din satul Gâșteni; 2- Conacul "Leon Furnurake" (1906); 3- Primăria comunei (1940 - 1943); 4- Școala (1903); 5- Bustul lui Alecsandru Ioan Cuza (1912) în parcul central al comunei.

The town is located on the right bank of the Sire, near the dam and the Racaciuni accumulation lake, on the national road DN2 that connects the Bacaul de Focsani.
In the past, the village estate belonged to the family of the ruler Gheorghe Stefan and has undergone various territorial changes until now.
On the territory of the commune are included in the list of historical monuments, eight objectives, as monuments of local interest. Three of them are classified as archaeological sites and other five as architectural monuments, of which: 1- wooden church "Sfintii Voievozi" (1803-1808) from the village of Gasteni; 2- "Leon Furnurake" Mansion (1906); 3- City Hall (1940 - 1943); 4- School (1903); 5- Bust of Alecsandru Ioan Cuza (1912) in the central park of the commune.
