Geocache Description:


For those of you who have found other Caches in Mount Barker by myself and The X-trailers you know a litle about our family ancestral history,'

This cache is going to give you a bit of history about an early settler "John Dunn"

Hope you enjoy the trip around town as you do this multi.

 

JOHN DUNN 'Father of Mount Barker'  was a pioneer of Mount Barker 

Starting co rds will have you at a plaque along a walking trail, telling some of his life.

He was born in Devon England a son of a small farmer and at age 10 he worked as a servant and then 7 yrs as an apprentice to a miller before being appointed a manager of a steam mill. In 1836 he owned his own mill and moved to Australia as his brothers suggested.

You need to find the following on the plaque   

A =Number of letters last word on 2nd line 

B= On 2nd line what is the 2nd number in year Dunn born minus last number year born 

C= number of letters in last word on 3rd line 

D= 4th number in 19th line  

E= 4th number in 2nd line plus 1

F- 2nd number in year Dunn died

You will now be at a property Dunn had built in 1860 .As there is no plaque here you need to gather the following from a post referring to a survey marker in the ground closeby  

A =4th number on marker 

B=2nd number on marker

C=1st number on marker

D=8th number on marker

E= 2nd number on marker 

F= 4th number on marker minus 3

Yo will now be standing in front of an old mill . Dunn&Co.at a time were the largest flour milling business in the Sthn Hemisphere.

Gather the following info from the sign ,

A= 4th number on 9th line

B= No of letters in 2nd word first line

C= Add 1st and 2nd numbers together on 1st line 

D- No of letters in last name on bottom line 

E= 2nd number on top line

F= number of letters in word on 2nd line

You will now be at a place important to John Dunn.Currently under repair so go to the hall to left of this church and you will see the original church and an oval shaped plaque on front

Gather the info required from plaque Once repairs complete questions will revert to the John Dunn Memorial Church.

B= No of letters of word starting with "C" on OUTER oval of plaque 

C= No of letters in smallest word on OUTER oval of plaque

D= How many times is "Original" written on plaque

E= Add first 2 numbers on INNER oval of plaque

F= What is the 3rd number on the INNER oval of plaque
