Hazy Cloud was chief of an Ottawa Indian band located on the Thornapple River in Ada. His Indian name was Maohbinnakizhich. He was known to be friendly with white people and allegedly signed the 1836 Treaty with Washington (the Treaty "arranged" that various Indian tribes in Michigan cede their lands to the United States; these lands comprised 37% of what is now the State of Michigan). He was accompanied to Washington by his brother-in-law, Rix Robinson.
This cache is located in Chief Hazy Cloud Park. Note that the driveway into the park is steep, and may be hazardous in the winter. Cache should be winter friendly.
