Geocache Description:

Keen Mountain is a small community in Buchanan County VA.  The area that this cache is placed is along the road to the Keen Mountain Park.  Remember that you are in the Appalachian Mountains - that means there are poison snakes, poison plants, and biting insects, so always use caution when out in the area.

The cache you are seeking is a home for a woodpecker, whether it be a Red-bellied, a Red-headed,

a Northern flicker, a Yellow-bellied sapsucker, a Hairy and Downy, or my favorite the Pileated Woodpecker.

The container's roof is hinged and another container is inside. It is mounted to a dead tree where there are several 'woodpecker holes' .
