The above coordinates will put you in front of a sign commemorating a Southern Saskatchewan Landmark.
For 50 years, Con's Corner Cafe was a hub of activity featuring, over the years, a cafe, gas pumps, confectionery, bulf fuel and a mechanical repair shop. The business was opened by Con and Kay Walz in 1939 when they purchased the business and moved it to this location.
This was a place people used to stop. They had their pie and ice cream and gassed up. Many nights Con's would stay open till midnight to make sure the travelers heading home, both North and South bound, had enough gas to get home. It was also a storm stay location during the bad winter storms when going further than Con's was just not possible.
In 1973, the business was purchased by Gene and Rolene Ward who continued to operate it until 1989, but with the more efficient vehicles, fewer people stopped for gas so they decided that it was time to close up shop.
When you stop, Gene or Rolene may come and have a chat, since they still own the property.
Please respect the property and enjoy the simple smiley!
