Geocache Description:

small snap lid container

Cache is set at the location of the Copper Harbor Exploration Works.  One of my maps seems to show that the cache is closest to the Clark Mine Rd., but no, use the Powderhouse Rd, To find, take Lake Manganese RD out of Copper Harbor, TL on Clark Mine Rd, TR on Burma Rd (towards Estivant Pines), immediately TL on Powderhouse Rd, which has both the Star Mine and Montreal Mine caches.  There is a road (angle left when main road turns right and goes downhill) and then a trail to cache, so if you think you might have to start bushwacking, you might want to re-think your approach.

A series of exploration pits (you'll pass one on the way to the cache) and long trenches (some over 100' long) were dug here in the middle of the 1850's.  Exploration occured on and off during the time, but no significant copper was found to iniate mining operations.
