ITA: Casertavecchia (frazione di Caserta) è un borgo medievale che sorge alle pendici dei monti Tifatini. In epoca medievale costituì il centro di Caserta. Le origini di Casertavecchia sono ancora incerte, ma secondo alcune informazioni estrapolate da uno scritto del monaco benedettino Erchemperto, Historia Langobardorum Beneventanorum già nell'anno 861 d.C. esisteva un nucleo urbano denominato Casa Hirta (dal latino: "villaggio posto in alto").
Nel 1960 l'insediamento di Casertavecchia è stato inserito nella lista dei monumenti nazionali italiani. Da allora il borgo ha conosciuto un progressivo ritorno di interesse, legato principalmente al turismo. Il borgo di Casertavecchia è meta di interesse turistico per via del Duomo, del campanile, dei resti del castello e delle strade dell'intero borgo che ricordano lo splendore di un tempo che fu.
Il notevole panorama fruibile in molti punti del borgo, la frescura estiva e i numerosi locali e pizzerie fanno sì che spesso gli abitanti dei dintorni vadano a trascorrere il sabato sera nelle vie del borgo. Molte sono le manifestazioni folkloristiche, che si svolgono annualmente a Casertavecchia e nei Borghi limitrofi di Casola, Pozzovetere e Sommana che hanno contribuito alla rivalutazione del territorio.

ENG: Casertavecchia (fraction of Caserta) is a medieval village that rises on the slopes of the Tifatini mountains. In medieval times it constituted the center of Caserta. The origins of Casertavecchia are still uncertain, but according to some information taken from a text by the Benedictine monk Erchemperto, Historia Langobardorum Beneventanorum already in the year 861 AD there was an urban nucleus called Casa Hirta (from the Latin: "village located above").
In 1960 the Casertavecchia settlement was included in the list of Italian national monuments. Since then the village has experienced a progressive return of interest, mainly linked to tourism. The village of Casertavecchia is a destination of tourist interest because of the Duomo, the bell tower, the remains of the castle and the streets of the entire village that recall the splendor of a time gone by.
The remarkable view that can be enjoyed in many parts of the village, the summer coolness and the numerous pubs and pizzerias mean that the inhabitants of the surroundings often go to spend Saturday nights in the streets of the village. There are many folkloristic events, which take place annually in Casertavecchia and in the neighboring villages of Casola, Pozzovetere and Sommana which have contributed to the revaluation of the territory.
