Geocache Description:

They don’t speak Dutch in Belgium, the Flemish who compromise 51% of the population speak Flemish which is a Dutch dialect but easily understood by anyone who speaks Dutch. The Walloons who make up about 48% of the population however speak French. The other 1% speaks German. Belgium is a trilingual country.

This race is held in a very scenic part of Belgium in the Ardennes forest near the resort town of Spa.

The weather is quite unpredictable in this region and the drivers can experience dry conditions on one part of the track and then slip and slide in the rain on another.

It was an all Ferrari front row at the start of the race with Monegasque Charles Leclerc having pole position with German Sebastian Vettel beside him in the second spot.

The first race on this track under the current rules was in 1950 and was won by Argentina’s Juan Manuel Fangio driving an Alfa Romeo. This race however was won by Leclerc driving for Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes coming in 2nd and Valtteri Bottas also in a Mercedes finishing in 3rd place.

Fastest lap was set by Vettel with a time of 1:46.409, at an average speed of 236.957 Km/hr on the 7.004 km (4.352 mi) circuit. That earned him an extra point in the championship standings.

This geocache is dedicated to the memory of Anthoine Hubert 1996-2019
