The trail to Round Top Lake and the summit of Round Top starts at the Woods Lake trailhead, off California Hwy 88, near Carson Pass. The trail passes a variety of scenery, ranging from dense forest to cliffs to high-altitude meadows with wildflowers in summer months, and ends at Round Top Lake. From there you can head east to Winnemucca Lake, making a nice loop. If you are ambitious, you can attempt to climb the summit of Round Top, elevation 3164 m (10,381 ft ).
This cache is located at the boundary of the Mokelumne Wilderness. No geocaches are permitted within the wilderness area itself (although I see a handful in there, probably by mistake).
