Geocache Description:

Woods Creek Rustic Trail is one of the Lower Huron's newest trails. Informal paths have always existed in this area, but recently a few new segments were added to create larger hiking loops within the park.   Explore over three miles of trails that take you through mature oak-hicory forest with beautiful views of the Huron River. The main trail follows the banks of the river along an ancient esker, meanders along a beautiful wooded dell, and passes a former mill site.   The trail also passes by GC60EE -- the 10th oldest cache in Wayne County.

Please observe all park rules and also keep dogs leashed   Bicycles prohibited.  Rustic trails are often uneven and infrequently maintained.

The Cache:  The cache is a small sized lock & lock hidden along the Woods Creek Rustic Trail (between markers 7 & 8 -- see map).   See waypoints for parking and trailhead locations.

This cache is located in Lower Huron Metropark.  A Metroparks vehicle permit is required for entry to the parks: $10 daily pass, $40 annual pass, $29 annual seniors pass. All park rules and regulations apply. Please park in parking lots only.

For general information please call 810-227-2752 800-47-PARKS, or visit www.metroparks.com.    Dogs on a leash are allowed in this section of the park    The hours for the trail are dawn to dusk.

A Metropark geocaching permit has been filed and approved by Kevin Arnold (Southern District Interpretive Supervisor).

Please note:   In the 15 years I have been geocaching, my GPS units have always acted "wonky" along these trails.   I don't know if there is something in the esker that affects it, or if it is the spirits of the Cos-scut-e-nong-sebee being mischevious.   Whatever the reason, please be prepared to be 5' away one moment, and then 50' away the next.    I averaged the coords over several days, but you may still find them to be "off".
