At a previous CITO some people expressed an interest in donning waders for an extreme CITO - so here it is! We will be maintaining some of the many ponds in Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve, by removing invasive vegetation. This is a high terrain CITO, so won't necessarily suit everyone, but I intend to do at least one more CITO this season (that will be easier and on a weekend) if you still want the souvenir, but don't fancy getting in a pond. If you have your own waders please bring them along, but I will have some available for people to borrow, so you just need to bring a sense of adventure! It can be quite physically-demanding work, but there is no need to stay for the whole event. Tools, drinks and some snacks will be provided, just bring appropriate clothing and lunch if you're staying that long. The meeting point is at the visitor centre where there are toilets and a microwave; if you arrive after 10.00 give me a call on 07713158616 and I'll point you towards the appropriate pond.
