Gruffalo Wood #2 - Lunch in my underground house Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheLentFamily19: We have moved down to Yorkshire so unfortunately won't be able to keep up with maintaining the series. We will be relocating the Gruffalo caches to a woodland nearer to home.

Thank you to Gordon Woodland and everyone who enjoyed the series.

Geocache Description:

"A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.

"Where are you going to, little brown mouse? Come and have lunch in my underground house!""

Welcome to our small series of caches for children (or the child in you!). Follow the brown mouse on his journey through the wood, meeting various characters as you go. Based on the ever popular Julia Donaldson story The Gruffalo.

"Fox is the first animal Mouse meets on his journey. He is slender, stealth like and seizes his opportunity when he spots the lone creature approaching. Luckily our mouse friend is able to think quickly and gives us our first description of the Gruffalo ("He has terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws") Collect a fox sticker to add to your card! "

* We hope to keep the sticker cards and stickers topped up but would appreciate a heads up should they be running low, or if a large group of children are planning to do the route. We'd hate anyone to miss out!

We decided to create this series in honour of our 3 year old mini cacher who loves helping us to “find the treasures”. We hope you enjoy it as much as she does.

Please take a moment to fully explore this wonderful community woodland. You will find accessible paths, a pond, a cabin, a river, old burial mounds and a disused railway line! It is home to a lovely variety of wildlife, perhaps you will spot some on your visit.

Occasionally the track from Gruffalo #1 to Gruffalo #2 can be quite muddy. If the weather has been particularly wet cachers with pushchairs may want to use the all ability path leading from the parking area to the cabin. Due to the tree cover coordinates may be slightly off. Please use the hint!

* Gruffalo series placed with kind permission of Gordon Community Woodland Trust
