You will find this cache at the posted coordinates. It is a letterbox hybrid in type only and in the sense that there is a stamp and ink pad to remain inside the cache to stamp your own collection or memory book. You are also encouraged to mark the logbook with not only a traditional signature (required to claim a find) but also your stamp, sticker or sketch as well.
This geocache is hidden in Rothrock State Forest along the mid state trail on Colerain Mountain. Approval PNDI (ID# 695393) It is about a tenth of a mile from the border of the Little Juniata Natural Area which spans the water gap from this mountain to Short Mountain (also known as brickyard). The main feature of the area is a vista in the Natural Area and is provided as a virtual waypoint.
There are two access points to this section of the mid state trail; each is provided as a parking waypoint. Parking along Colerain Road will provide a 2 mile hike to the vista with little elevation change. This is the easier option. Parking near the river in Barree will provide a shorter hike but it will be a significant climb in elevation. Either way, don't miss out on the vista!
Wear orange during hunting season. Practice CITO, leave no trace and trail ethics. Do not disturb any water caches etc. that may be left for through hikers of the trail. This is likely a 2 hour adventure from parking and back at minimum. Be safe! Enjoy your time here! Plan accordingly and replace as found! Enjoy!
