Calvary Hill
Calvary Hill is one of the three dunes of the Győr riverbank. The Celts and later the Romans buried on the hill. In the Middle Ages there was the church of St. Adalbert's Provost and the headquarters of the building, which were destroyed during the Turkish period. It was then the scaffold of soldiers and commoners on the hill until 1714, when the construction of the two chapels of today's Calvary and the associated Golgotha ??statue group began, according to plans by Márton Witwer. These were completed in 1725.
Along Kálvária Street, small chapels lined up with seven stations depicting scenes of Jesus' sufferings, in vividly colored groups of woods. These are the works of an unknown sculptor from Győr, who received 112 forints for his work. Of the two Győr painters who participated, one is named Ferenc and the other is Frigyes Kázler by the documents.

Unfortunately, the location itself is usually closed, as far as I know, it is only open for church festivity. Of course, street stations are free to view. The hiding is along the bike path, be very careful and open-eyed! Bring a pen with you.

Kálváriadomb
A Kálváriadomb a három győri parti dűne egyike. A dombon temetkeztek már a kelták, majd később a rómaiak is. A középkorban itt állt a Szent Adalbert prépostság temploma és káptalani székháza, mely épületek a török időkben megsemmisültek. Ezután a katonák és közrendűek vesztőhelye volt a dombon 1714-ig, amikor is elkezdték a mai Kálvária két kápolnáját és a hozzá tartozó Golgota szoborcsoportot felépíteni Witwer Márton tervei alapján. Ezek 1725-re készültek el.
A Kálvária utca mentén sorakozik kis kápolnákban a 7 stáció, melyek Jézus szenvedéseinek jeleneteit ábrázolják, élénk mozdulatú színezett facsoportokban. Ezek ismeretlen győri szobrász művei, aki munkájáért 112 forintot kapott. A közreműködött két győri festő közül az egyiket Ferenc, a másikat Kázler Frigyes néven említik az okmányok.

Sajnos maga a látnivaló általában zárva van, ismereteim szerint egyházi ünnepek alkalmával látogatható csak. Az utcai stációk természetesen szabadon megtekinthetőek. A rejtés kerékpárút mentén van, légy nagyon óvatos és figyelmes! Tollat hozz magaddal.
