Daniel Boone blazed a trail into Madison County, KY (from south of Berea to north of Richmond). This path came to be known as Boone's Trace and/or Boone's Trail. The original Fort Boonesborough was erected here in 1775 as the capital of the Colony of Transylvania. It was the first city, and the first fortified settlement, built in KY.
Efforts to preserve the site began in 1934, and Boonesborough became a KY State Park in 1965. A replica of the original Fort was completed in 1974 and continues to serve as a tourist attraction today. The entrance to the replica fort is located on Boonesborough Road (Hwy 627). As you explore this region of KY, notice how often you see things named after Daniel Boone.
For this cache, it's important that you examine your surroundings. A little birdie has said that one of the monuments at the original fort site will reveal the numerical code you need to access where the log sheet is housed.
