Several years ago, we discovered this interesting place of forest, lakes and trails while doing a geocache. The beautiful white sand in this area is such a striking contrast to the tall green long leaf pines and brown bark – some of it blackened from a controlled burn. So different than the tan beach sand on Topsail Island. So when visiting the area, and our good friend Olsalte in North Topsail Beach, we try to make time to drive through these wooded areas. Always an air of adventure, you just never know what wildlife might be seen.
When hiding the cache, we had a tough time locating rocks to conceal the container. Finally, we were able to find a few close to one of the lakes where a road might have been.
These hunting lands are also great for hiking, mountain biking and fishing. Be aware of hunter safety when using this area during hunting seasons.
Happy hunting, and please conceal the container from accidental finds.
