Yuandao Road (原道路) is one of only a couple of roads connecting Huaqiao Xincun to the external street network. It has low motor vehicle traffic volumes and should have traffic calming measures considering that thousands of school children pass by each day. Yuandao Road leads directly past three large schools: Huanghua Primary School (黄花小学) with more than 1,000 students, Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Foreign Language School (广州市华侨外国语学校) with more than 2,000 students, and the Guangzhou Vocational School of Finance and Economics (广州市财经职业学校) with around 8,000 students. Most of those students, and many accompanying guardians, use at least part of Yuandao Road every morning, lunchtime and afternoon during school movement times. Many also live in the area, and use Yuandao at night and on weekends. The streets are heavily used at night up to about 9:30PM by people jogging, strolling, or otherwise out and about.
